MOBULA MANTAS
Several different species of Mobula Mantas exist in the Sea of Cortez and the Eastern Pacific. Sometimes just referred to as Mobulas. They are also known as flying, devil, and mini mantas. Their schools can be more than a thousand animals strong.
Over the years The Dive Gurus have become the main collaborator with divers, tourists, broadcasters and institutions when trying to interact with these animals in the waters and islands around La Paz. Mantas can be found during the day or at night. We offer both interactions.
We have successfully helped The BBC and Discovery Channel make blue ship documentaries about Mobula Manta behaviour.

WHAT SPECIES OF MANTA?
There are three main species that we encounter here in the Sea of Cortez. Here is the link to their wikipedia pages DAY ENCOUNTERS
Charter our private dive boat for an exclusive Manta Safari. Join our experienced staff on our custom built dive boat Monkey Business and search for Mantas around the island. Mantas are best encountered from the surface and then free diving and snorkelling give the best photo & video opportunities. NIGHT ENCOUNTERS
This activity has recently become more restricted by the Mexican National Park Service. It is very important to ensure you go with a credible operator. The techniques used to encounter mantas feeding at night, if not done properly can injure the animals. The night diving season is from August through December. COLLABORATIONS
We have worked with everyone from The Monterey Bay Aquarium, The BBC, The Sunday Times, Hello Magazine, Discovery, Manta Trust, and Behind the Mask. |
